down syndrome test false positive
Has anyone has a false positive on the Down’s Syndrome fetal test?
I just got a positive flagging on the blood test, and have to have the level 2 ultrasound and the amniocentisis. I’m under 30, and my doctor said that it does not mean my baby will have Down Syndrome. Anyone else had a test come up negative only to find out later that the baby was fine? We are a little nervous. We have to wait a week to go in for the ultrasound.
I’ve had two ultrasounds already and the dates are exactly the same, so the dates are not wrong for me.
yeah, but they never did an ultrasound to find out how far along I was and they just went off the dates I gave them, which were a month off, so I had to do the ultrasound after the counseling where they asked me if I would consider the amnio and I declined because I knew already the most common reason was the dates were wrong and I was not sure at all of my dates, and the last one could have been implantation bleeding. so then they did the ultrasound and confirmed my dates were wrong and I never had to do an amnio. also you have the option of changing your mind about the amnio after the ultrasound if they do find that the dates were right, they had to do the blood work for the test from 15-18 weeks and have the right lmp date, and if they find abnormalities on the fetal ultrasound. They thought I was 18 weeks along and I was only 14 at the time of the ultrasound and they were still able to tell me I was having a boy. My second set of blood work came out fine, good luck to you.
